What are the best mechanical disc brakes for mountian bikes?
I'm probably getting a giant revel 1 because it has a great frame, but the fork is terrible, suntour xct 80mm with lockout. With such bad forks I want to know that the brakes are good at least. they are shimano BR m416.
How do these perform compared to other budget disc brakes such as-
promaxx cable actuated disc brake
tektro IO disc brakes
tektro novella disc brakes
hayes MX4 disc brakes

With any brakes the pad compound is VERY important and can make a very good brake work poorly or a entry level one shine. The next is bedding the pads in and not glazing them, glazed pads don't stop well at all. The best mech. overall are Avid BB7's.
